Overview

• On July 16 at around 10:30 pm a woman allegedly attacked an Asian man with a large blade on Fulham Road in Sparkbrook, Birmingham.
• Footage shows the suspect brandishing the knife while directing racial abuse at the victim, who defended himself first with a piece of cardboard and then with his rucksack.
• Officers found the man with a knife injury to his arm and he was taken to hospital, where his injuries were assessed as non-life-threatening.
• West Midlands Police charged 40-year-old Jolene Davies with wounding and possession of a knife after reviewing the viral footage.
• Davies appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court on July 18 and was remanded in custody as the investigation continues.
