Birmingham Suspect Charged in Two Mass Shootings and Linked to 11 Murders

Damien McDaniel, 22, faces capital murder charges for two nightclub shootings and three additional fatal incidents in Birmingham this year.

Damien McDaniel has been charged with capital murder in connection to a July nightclub shooting that killed four and injured 10 in Birmingham, Alabama.
McDaniel is also charged in a September mass shooting near the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where four were killed and 17 wounded.
Authorities allege McDaniel was involved in three additional fatal shootings between August and September, bringing his total alleged victims to 11 killed and 29 injured across five incidents.
Hatarius Woods, 27, has also been charged with capital murder for his role in the July shooting, with investigations into other suspects ongoing.
Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin has called for stricter gun safety laws, citing the city’s record-breaking 145 homicides in 2024 as a growing crisis.
