Overview
- Emergency services were called shortly before 1.10am to a property on Saxons Way in Highters Heath, south of Birmingham.
- West Midlands Ambulance Service deployed two ambulances, two paramedic officers, the Hazardous Area Response Team, and a MERIT trauma doctor with a critical care paramedic.
- Crews found a man in his 30s in a critical condition, provided advanced life support, and conveyed him to hospital where he died a short time later.
- West Midlands Police believe the blaze was started deliberately and have launched a murder investigation.
- Officers remain at the scene conducting inquiries and are appealing for information and any footage via 101 (log 174 of September 19) or Crimestoppers.
