Overview
- West Midlands Police said 19 people aged 14 to 25 have been charged over Birmingham city-centre attacks involving fireworks and have been bailed to appear before magistrates on 20 November.
- Section 60 stop-and-search powers were used in central Birmingham on 7–8 November and extended across a wider area into 8–9 November to deter further disorder.
- Officers reported fireworks launched from streets and buildings toward police and the public, with weapons and fireworks seized in the Dale End and Staniforth Street areas.
- Greater Manchester Police in Bolton responded on 8 November to numerous reports of youths lighting fireworks in their hands and throwing them in Queens Park and the Halliwell/Boardman Street area, conducting stop-and-searches and issuing warnings to parents.
- Police urged the public to report misuse of fireworks, stressing the risk of serious injury, and advised using 101 for non-emergencies and 999 in emergencies while working with local partners to prevent further incidents.
