Overview
- Pilot enrollment modules are active in Ciudad de México, Veracruz, Estado de México and Nayarit, with additional states preparing for upcoming rollouts.
- Ciudad de México’s single RENAPO module requires an appointment, whereas Estado de México and Veracruz offer limited walk-in slots during set hours; processing takes 20 to 30 minutes.
- Applicants must provide an official photo ID, certified birth certificate or CURP, proof of address and an email address; minors must be accompanied by parents or tutors holding their own biometric CURP.
- The biometric CURP collects fingerprints, iris scans, digital photographs, an electronic signature and a QR code, with special reduced data protocols for children under five.
- Authorities have set an October 16 voluntary enrollment start and plan mandatory acceptance for public and private transactions in early 2026 while finalizing secondary regulations and the Llave MX/Plataforma Única identity registry.
