Bio Ionic Recalls 357,000 Curling Irons Over Burn Hazard After Barrel Detachments

Consumers should stop using model LXT-CL-1.0, with free replacements issued through Bio Ionic’s plug-return process.

Overview

  • The CPSC-coordinated recall is active following reports that the one-inch barrel can snap off and cause burns.
  • J&D Brush Co. received 258 reports of barrel detachment, including six cases of minor burn injuries.
  • Affected units carry date codes 0722–1223 engraved on the plug prongs, which owners must cut off and return using a prepaid label.
  • The irons sold for about $165 from August 2022 to July 2024 at Sephora, Ulta, Nordstrom, Salon Centric, salons, beauty stores, Amazon, and Bioionic.com, with about 3,000 also sold in Canada.
