Binance Files for Brazil License as It Cuts Services for Local Users

The filing could let Binance keep operating under a temporary central bank regime while regulators review its documents and compliance checks.

Overview

  • Binance submitted a license application through BBrasil Sociedade Prestadora de Serviços de Ativos Virtuais Ltda. on October 23 to seek authorization as a virtual asset service provider.
  • The exchange restricted eight products and removed trading for 22 tokens on October 27, moving open positions into reduce-only or closure status while leaving spot trading and approved stablecoins active.
  • Binance is moving Brazilian customer accounts into its local brokerage, Binance Brasil Corretora (formerly Sim;paul), with the migration targeted for completion by October 29.
  • To support the application Binance provided a technical certification prepared with CertiK covering nearly 900 compliance checks, but regulators have not approved the application or set timelines for restoring restricted services.
  • New central bank rules requiring detailed reports on cross-border crypto transfers take effect on November 1 and will increase oversight of international flows, a change that could reshape how exchanges and customers move funds.
