Overview
- At the Aug. 29 Soldier Field stop of the Long Live the Black Parade tour, Billy Corgan appeared as a surprise guest for the show-closing cover.
 - Corgan played guitar and shared vocal duties with Gerard Way on the Smashing Pumpkins’ 1995 hit.
 - Way introduced the song with a pandemic-era anecdote about an Instagram clip that, he said, made him “feel the blade of Christ” enter his chest.
 - The cameo followed weeks of MCR performing the cover and playful meme exchanges, and Corgan later praised the “fantastic gig” to a “massive Chicago crowd.”
 - The tour runs through Sept. 20 at Atlanta’s Shaky Knees before international dates in 2026, and the Chicago show also featured a tribute to late drummer Bob Bryar.
