• Search teams launched a multiagency operation after Heather Wayment’s car was found at the Prairie Creek trailhead in Blaine County.
• The Pocatello mountain bikers encountered her off-trail near the junction of Mule Creek and Big Smoky Creek in Camas County about 17 miles from her vehicle.
• She appeared disoriented with bleeding feet and minimal clothing, and the bikers provided water, a jacket and food while seeking help.
• Using the onX map app, GPS and satellite messages relayed through a family member, the group transmitted precise coordinates to Blaine County authorities.
• A Life Flight helicopter evacuated her to St. Alphonsus Medical Center in Boise, and officials have not yet explained her condition or how she ended up so far from her car.
