Bike the Drive to Close DuSable Lake Shore Drive to Cars Sunday Morning

Organizers expect more than 20,000 cyclists to ride a 30-mile lakefront loop supporting the Active Transportation Alliance.

Overview

  • DuSable Lake Shore Drive closes at 6 a.m., the ride opens at 6:30 a.m., and riders may start through 10:30 a.m., with organizers advising a start no later than 8 a.m.
  • The course runs from Bryn Mawr Avenue to 57th Street on both directions of the Drive with five access points: Grant Park’s Main Festival, Bryn Mawr, Fullerton, Oakwood, and the Museum of Science and Industry.
  • As the event winds down, entry locations begin closing around 10:30 a.m., riders must be north of Randolph or south of Roosevelt by 10:35 a.m., rolling closures start at 10:45 a.m., and car traffic resumes between 11:30 a.m. and noon.
  • Helmets are mandatory, three rest stops offer restrooms, water, and snacks, and organizers urge riders to review the posted list of potholes and uneven surfaces.
