Overview

• Teacher Rakesh Ranjan Srivastava intervened in a fight between two Class 5 students and slapped both boys to break up the scuffle
• One student ran home to report the slap and returned with family members who stormed the Shahbazpur school armed with sticks
• Srivastava and fellow teacher Dharmendra Kumar were struck with slaps, punches and sticks and suffered injuries requiring hospital care
• Local police arrived shortly after the attack, controlled the situation, registered a case on Srivastava’s complaint and opened an investigation
