Bihar Publishes Final Merit List for 19,838 Constables

The result completes a multi-stage recruitment, requiring selected candidates to undergo character verification and medical exams before formal appointment.

Overview

  • The Central Selection Board of Constable (CSBC) published the final merit list on May 27–28, selecting 19,838 candidates for appointment across Bihar Police and the Bihar Special Armed Police.
  • Of the total selects, 16,852 have been allocated to Bihar Police and 2,986 to the Bihar Special Armed Police, with a gender breakdown of 12,509 men, 7,312 women and 17 transgender candidates.
  • The CSBC said the merit list was prepared using combined performance in the written exam and Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and by applying reservation rules.
  • Selected candidates must complete character verification and medical examinations between June 20 and July 19 before Bihar Police Headquarters issues appointment and joining schedules.
  • The recruitment drew massive participation—1,706,628 applicants, 1,330,121 written-exam attendees and 79,932 PET participants—and the final list also includes 332 trained Home Guards and 190 dependents of freedom fighters, which will boost policing capacity across the state.
