Bihar Poll: NDA Edges Ahead in Seat Projections as Tejashwi Leads CM Preference

A new JVC survey gives the NDA a slight seat edge before the two-phase vote.

Overview

  • The JVC/Times Now opinion poll projects the NDA at 120–140 seats versus 93–112 for the Mahagathbandhan in the 243-member assembly, with estimated vote shares of 41–43% and 39–41% respectively.
  • Within the alliances, BJP is pegged at 70–81 seats and JD(U) at 42–48, while RJD is forecast at 69–78, Congress 9–17, and CPI(ML) 12–14, with smaller allies in low single digits.
  • Tejashwi Yadav is the most preferred chief ministerial face at 33% against Nitish Kumar at 29%, and the INDIA bloc has formally named Yadav as its candidate.
  • Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party is projected at about one seat with 6–7% vote share, while AIMIM, BSP and others together are seen taking 8–10 seats.
  • Respondents identify law and order, caste census and benefits, and unemployment as top issues, and polling is set for November 6 and 11 with counting on November 14.
