Overview
- The Bihar government announced on Friday that the Bihar School Examination Board will no longer print the word “Fail” on Class 10 and 12 marksheets and will instead use an eligibility-for-skill designation.
- Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari said the State Education Department will amend rules and issue formal directives to the BSEB to implement the wording change.
- Students who do not meet pass marks will be marked with phrases reported as “Eligible for Skill Training,” “Eligible for Skills,” or the Hindi form “kaushal ke liye patra,” with the exact phrasing to be finalised in the forthcoming directives.
- The government rolled out support measures to accompany the change, including a 24/7 Bihar Vidya Saathi platform connecting students to teachers, and one-month remedial classes for students taking supplementary exams.
- Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has approved the plan and will launch a Teacher Support Portal on Teachers’ Day, while officials say implementation details such as timelines, certificate language, and vocational placement links will be published soon.
