Bihar Cabinet Approves Plan to Create One Crore Youth Jobs

Overview

  • On July 15, the Cabinet cleared 30 proposals, including a target to generate one crore jobs and employment opportunities for youth between 2025 and 2030.
  • A 12-member committee chaired by Development Commissioner Pratyay Amrit will explore public and private sector options and advise on execution.
  • The government will expand its Saat Nischay skill development programme and set up a dedicated skill university to link young people with work and entrepreneurship.
  • Other approved measures include Rs 394 crore grants for school staff, Rs 179 crore for Patna metro priority corridor maintenance and ex-gratia support for accident-victim families.
  • Opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav has challenged the funding roadmap for the jobs pledge, saying past promises remain unmet and demanding clarity on financial backing.
