Overview

  • Bhagalpur authorities filed Form-7 for deletion and started cancelling EPICs after identifying Imrana Khanam and Firdousia Khanam on the rolls.
  • The women entered India in 1956 on short-term visas that were not renewed, according to an MHA probe cross-checking long-stay records.
  • Both entries carried Aadhaar and voter IDs and were recently verified during the Special Intensive Revision conducted ahead of state elections.
  • The Election Commission sought a detailed district report as the DM and SP were directed to investigate and issue notices for a hearing and documents.
  • A Booth Level Officer said she received a Home Ministry notice on August 11 and began deletion paperwork, while a family member disputed that investigators had visited.
