Big Baller Brand Co-Founder Alan Foster Sues LaMelo Ball, LaVar Ball, Puma Over Trademarks, Seeks $200 Million in Damages

Foster claims he helped develop Melo's "MB1" brand as a teenager, alleges Ball and Puma infringed on his trademarks, marking the latest legal battle in a tumultuous partnership history.

  • Alan Foster, co-founder of the Big Baller Brand, is suing LaMelo Ball, LaVar Ball, Tina Ball, and Puma claiming he has not received compensation for his work with the apparel brand and that they infringed on his trademarks.
  • Foster alleges he originated the 'MB1' line when LaMelo was a teenager and filed multiple trademarks for it, which led to the creation of the MB1 shoe, the first signature shoe of LaMelo, released by Puma.
  • In an effort to oust Foster from the company, LaVar allegedly created a second version of Big Baller Brand and attempted to transfer Foster's trademarks, thereby denying him significant profits from the successful brand.
  • Foster asserts the new 'MB.01' signature shoe, created by LaMelo Ball and Puma following a multi-million dollar deal signed in 2020, infringes on his trademarks.
  • This is not the first time Foster has been involved in legal battles with the Ball family. He previously sued LaVar Ball, alleging embezzlement, and has been sued by LaVar's oldest son, Lonzo Ball, who claimed Foster defrauded the Balls out of more than $1.5 million.
