• Houston received 14 of 16 first-place votes in the coaches poll after earning a No. 2 AP preseason ranking.
• BYU was projected second with one first-place vote following last season’s Sweet Sixteen under coach Kevin Young.
• Three Cougars—Milos Uzan (unanimous), Emanuel Sharp and Joseph Tugler—made the preseason All-Big 12 team.
