In New York, the counties of Kings (Brooklyn), Nassau, and Westchester will receive funding to assist with debris removal, infrastructure repairs, and protective measures following heavy rains and flooding in September 2023.
In Maine, federal funding will assist in repairing public infrastructure damage caused by a massive wind and rainstorm in December 2023, which resulted in prolonged power outages, historic flooding, and property damage.
The disaster declarations also make federal funding available for hazard mitigation measures statewide in both New York and Maine.
The funding in New York is expected to support recovery and reconstruction efforts, including assistance for debris removal, emergency protective measures, and repairs to public buildings and infrastructure.
