Biden Administration Launches National Spectrum Strategy to Advance U.S. Wireless Leadership

Strategy to Study Over 2,700 Megahertz of Airwaves for Potential New Uses in Various Sectors

The Biden-Harris Administration has launched a National Spectrum Strategy to identify over 2,700 megahertz of airwaves for potential new uses by both the private sector and federal agencies.
The National Spectrum Strategy aims to advance U.S. leadership globally in wireless technology and improve services in sectors such as aviation, transportation, manufacturing, energy, and space.
The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) developed the Strategy in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission and other Executive Branch agencies.
The Strategy will study five spectrum bands for potential repurposing, which could be used for wireless broadband, drones, and satellite operations.
The Strategy also includes plans for long-term planning, coordination among government agencies, encouragement of innovation in the sector, and workforce development.
