Johannes Boe, a dominant figure in biathlon, will retire after the 2024-2025 season, foregoing the 2026 Winter Olympics.
The 31-year-old Norwegian made the emotional announcement during a press conference at the Ruhpolding World Cup stage in Germany.
Boe emphasized his desire to prioritize family life, stating that the intense demands of elite sports no longer align with his personal goals.
His illustrious career includes five Olympic gold medals, 20 World Championship titles, and 88 individual World Cup victories.
Boe aims to end his career on a high note, pursuing a sixth overall World Cup title to match the record of Ole Einar Bjørndalen.
