Bhopal Police Seize Rs 1.6 Crore Liquor Haul Hidden as Plastic Granules

  • Khajuri Sadak police intercepted the truck near the station between 3:00 and 4:00 am after a tip-off and stopped an escape attempt with a vehicle stopper.
  • Officers recovered about 1,200 cartons containing 10,592 litres of branded English liquor from the vehicle.
  • The liquor is valued at roughly Rs 1.20 crore and the truck at about Rs 40 lakh, taking the total seizure to Rs 1.60 crore.
  • The driver, identified as Jakir Sheikh, 50, from Indore, said the load was taken near Skyland Garden/Bairagarh for delivery via Indore to Gujarat.
  • Police say he produced forged documents and no valid permits, a case under the Excise Act is registered, and officials call it Bhopal’s biggest seizure of 2025.
