Bhopal Metro To Begin Paid Service Dec. 21 With Limited Hours And 75-Minute Frequency

Fares start at Rs 20 on a 7.4 km starter stretch that opens before parking and online ticketing are in place.

Overview

  • Inauguration is set for December 20, with public operations on December 21 from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm.
  • The priority corridor spans 7.4 km with eight stations between Subhash Nagar and AIIMS, taking about 25 minutes end to end.
  • Trains will run every 75 minutes with 17 trips daily at launch, and the initial operating speed is capped at 40 kmph.
  • Rides will be paid from day one with fares of Rs 20 minimum, Rs 30 for three to five stations, and Rs 40 for end to end, with a future full-line cap expected at Rs 70.
  • Tickets will be sold at station counters only and there is no dedicated parking at the eight stations yet, as DPR work toward airport and Mandideep extensions proceeds and tunnelling gear arrives for two underground stations.
