Bhopal Metro Edges Toward Opening as CMRS Report Expected This Week

The safety regulator’s sign-off would trigger government notifications, then a request for a Prime Ministerial inauguration date.

Overview

  • CMRS completed its three-day final inspection of the priority corridor on 13–15 November, and officials reported no objections by Tuesday evening.
  • The regulator’s report is expected this week, with the No Objection Certificate anticipated within one to two weeks according to metro officials.
  • Once cleared, the Metro Corporation will formally notify the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and the Madhya Pradesh government, after which the state will seek an inauguration date from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
  • Initial service is planned on the eight-station priority stretch between Subhash Nagar Depot and AIIMS.
  • Officials say core systems meet CMRS standards and remaining station work will not affect launch, with the October target having slipped and the opening now expected by late November or by year-end depending on the Prime Minister’s schedule.
