Overview
- Speaking at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, Mohan Bhagwat opened the “100 Years Journey of RSS: New Horizons” lectures before about 1,300 invitees, including representatives from roughly 25 embassies.
- He said the idea of Hindu Rashtra is not linked to political power and signifies justice and equality for all rather than exclusion.
- Bhagwat advanced a civilisational definition of identity, asserting a shared heritage and “common DNA,” and urged social transformation to help India become a Vishwaguru.
- He called for discussions about the RSS to rest on facts, emphasized the organisation’s autonomy from government, and said it does not remote control its swayamsevaks.
- Organisers said similar lecture series are planned in Bengaluru, Kolkata and Mumbai, with over one lakh Hindu sammelans nationwide and a Vijayadashami address in Nagpur on October 2.
