Overview
- RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat is on a three-day visit to Imphal from November 20–22, his first since ethnic violence erupted in May 2023.
- Bhagwat told an interaction in Imphal that Manipur "must have a government" and said, to his knowledge, efforts are under way to install one.
- He said peace-building would take time and highlighted community- and society-level work, adding that the Sangh seeks to bring people together across identities.
- During the visit, Bhagwat outlined the RSS centenary "Panch Parivartan" priorities, including social harmony, family awakening, environmental protection, cultural self-awareness and civic responsibility.
- Manipur Congress president Keisham Meghachandra Singh rejected RSS involvement as a solution, urging a concrete roadmap, a unified command for security, safe return of the displaced and administrative accountability in a state under President’s Rule since February.
