Overview
- An independent British Horseracing Authority panel on July 15 fined John and Thady Gosden £3,000 for breaches of the Rules of Racing following ketamine findings in Zilfee and Morrophore.
- Zilfee’s maiden victory at Kempton and Morrophore’s Yarmouth result were annulled after post-race urine tests revealed low-level ketamine.
- Investigators determined that a yard worker admitted to recreational ketamine use multiple times a week, causing cross-contamination via shared equipment and tack.
- Out-of-competition hair analyses and a July 2024 BHA inspection of the Newmarket yard detected ketamine residues in four more horses.
- The Gosdens have since implemented random drug testing, alcohol screening for staff and strengthened hygiene protocols across the stable.
