Bezzecchi Wins Indonesian Sprint With Last-Lap Pass After Record Pole

Ducati secured the teams’ title after the sprint.

Overview

  • Starting from pole after a 1:28.832 lap record, Marco Bezzecchi recovered from a poor launch to catch Fermin Aldeguer and make the winning move at Turn 10 on the final lap.
  • Rookie Fermin Aldeguer, who earned his first MotoGP front-row start, led most of the 13 laps and finished 0.157s behind, with Raul Fernandez taking his first premier-class podium in third.
  • Newly crowned champion Marc Marquez qualified ninth, received a long-lap penalty for contact with Alex Rins on lap one, and salvaged seventh as Rins slipped to 13th.
  • Francesco Bagnaia failed to advance from Q1 to qualify 16th and ended the sprint a distant last of the 14 finishers.
  • Despite muted factory results, Ducati clinched the teams’ world championship, while Honda’s Luca Marini placed sixth pending a post-race low tyre-pressure investigation and KTM’s Pedro Acosta crashed out from second on lap five.
