Bezzecchi Tops Motegi Practice as Alex Marquez Falls to Q1, Razgatlioglu and Bulega Share Aragon Lead on Friday

Friday times boosted Marc Marquez’s chance to seal the title at Motegi, with Toprak Razgatlioglu starting Aragon strongly in his final WorldSBK visit before moving to MotoGP in 2026.

Overview

  • Marco Bezzecchi rebounded from two FP1 crashes to lead Motegi’s timed Practice with a 1:43.193, ahead of Pedro Acosta, who crashed at Turn 1 after setting his lap, and Marc Marquez in third.
  • Francesco Bagnaia headed FP1 after applying gains from the Misano test and later secured P7 in the combined Practice to advance directly to Q2.
  • Crash-heavy running shaped the order, with falls for Bezzecchi, Raul Fernandez, Jack Miller, Franco Morbidelli and Enea Bastianini in FP1, and late incidents for several riders during the time attacks.
  • Alex Marquez missed direct Q2 for the first time in 2025 and will go through Q1, strengthening Marc Marquez’s title prospects as he needs to outscore his brother by three points across the weekend.
  • At Aragon, Toprak Razgatlioglu dominated WorldSBK FP1 before Nicolo Bulega edged FP2 by 0.012s, sustaining a narrative of a 12-race win streak, a 39-point lead and a declared push to win at the circuit before his 2026 MotoGP switch.
