BEST Unveils Ganeshotsav Plan: 26 Extra Night Buses Aug 27–Sep 5, 2,723 Lights, Backup Power

Overview

  • Additional buses will mainly run from 10:30 pm to 6:00 am to handle late-night travel from pandals and immersion points.
  • BEST’s street lighting department will place 2,723 lights along 71 procession routes, 19 immersion sites, and 39 artificial ponds under BMC directives.
  • Fifteen permanent electric towers have been set up at immersion points, with eight diesel generators on standby to prevent power disruptions.
  • Nineteen high-capacity searchlights will be positioned at sea immersion zones to assist lifeguards and rescue teams.
  • An information booklet on temporary electricity applications and operational arrangements is available on BEST’s website, with bus inspectors and traffic officers assigned to high-demand areas such as Parel, Lalbaug, Girgaon, and Khetwadi.
