Overview

  • From August 27 to September 5, BEST will run special late-night services on 10 routes, with 2–3 buses per route operating mostly between 10:30 pm and 6:00 am to connect key pandals, chowks, and railway hubs.
  • The planned night routes cover high-footfall areas such as Fort, Girgaon, Khetwadi, Lalbaug, Parel, and corridors linking Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dadar, and other major stops.
  • To improve visibility during processions and immersions, 2,723 lights will be installed across 71 routes, 19 immersion sites, and 39 artificial ponds.
  • Safety measures include 15 permanent electric towers at immersion points, eight standby diesel generators for backup supply, and 19 high-intensity searchlights at sea locations to aid rescue teams.
  • Officers, bus inspectors, and technical staff will be stationed along routes and at immersion sites, and an information booklet detailing procedures is available on BEST’s website.
