Overview

• Jon Bernthal and Ebon Moss-Bachrach will make their Broadway debuts as Sonny Amato and Sal DeSilva in spring 2026’s Dog Day Afternoon.
• Pulitzer Prize winner Stephen Adly Guirgis wrote the stage adaptation under Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures with Rupert Goold directing.
• The play is based on Lumet’s Oscar-winning 1975 film, itself drawn from a Life magazine article about a real-life 1972 bank heist and hostage crisis.
• Both Bernthal and Moss-Bachrach are Emmy winners for FX’s The Bear and return to the stage after early theatrical careers.
