Bernadette Després, known for co-creating the popular children's comic 'Tom-Tom et Nana', has died at the age of 83.
Her work featured in the magazine 'J’aime lire' from 1977 to 2009, captivating young readers with the adventures of the mischievous siblings.
Després' illustrations sold over 16 million copies worldwide, becoming a cultural phenomenon and a staple in French children's literature.
She received numerous accolades, including the Fauve d’honneur at the Angoulême Festival in 2019 and the title of Chevalier of the Légion d’honneur in 2021.
The publishing house Bayard Jeunesse plans to honor her memory at the upcoming Salon du livre et de la presse jeunesse in Montreuil.
