Berlin's Wuhlheide bridge to reopen to car traffic Friday in single-lane operation

Following inspections that uncovered widespread cracks, demolition is nearly complete with tram services back in operation since late May.

Overview

  • Car traffic will be restored on June 6 at around 14:00, initially running one lane between Treskowallee and Edisonstraße.
  • Outer lanes connecting Rummelsburger Straße to Straße An der Wuhlheide are due to open by Saturday midday.
  • Left turns from Rummelsburger Straße into Treskowallee will remain prohibited to maintain traffic flow.
  • Tram services resumed at the demolition site at the end of May to ensure uninterrupted public transport.
  • Officials expect all demolition and dismantling work to be finished by June 27 following the mid-May closure for safety reasons.
