Overview
- Berlin’s traffic information center said the Tiergartentunnel will close on weeknights until further notice because illness has left too few operators to staff continuous video surveillance.
- The closure blocks both directions between Reichpietschufer and Heidestraße from 9:30 p.m. to 5:45 a.m., Monday through Friday.
- Bus lines M41 and M85 are affected during the nightly shutdown.
- Separate from the tunnel issue, the A100 will be fully closed for maintenance on the nights of April 13–14 and 14–15 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. between Hohenzollerndamm and Innsbrucker Platz, alternating by direction.
- By rule, a staff member must watch tunnel camera feeds at all times to spot hazards, and if that coverage cannot be guaranteed the tunnel must close, a requirement that has driven several short‑notice shutdowns in recent months.
