Overview

  • The pilot upgrade includes façade insulation, new windows, the removal of hazardous materials and the renewal of heating, sanitary and electrical systems as well as bathroom modernization.
  • The 600-meter complex spans Bundesautobahn 104, comprises almost 1,800 apartments built between 1975 and 1981 and has been a protected monument since 2017.
  • Tenants have faced temporary restrictions on traffic routes and the closure of communal green spaces since work began.
  • Degewo board member Wehrmann has described the overhaul as one of the company’s most ambitious in its history and intends to maintain the building’s architectural character.
  • Outcomes from the 156-unit pilot are expected by late 2026, with final decisions on renovating the remaining apartments slated for early 2027.
