Berlin's Festival of Lights Opens Oct. 8 With Citywide Illuminations

Visitors get free nightly installations across landmark sites alongside ticketed immersive shows at the Berliner Dom.

Overview

  • The 21st edition runs from October 8 to 15 each night from 19:00 to 23:00 under the motto “Let’s shine together.”
  • Organizers list more than 40 locations featuring landmarks such as the Fernsehturm, Brandenburg Gate, Victory Column and Potsdamer Platz, though one guide maps 29 sites and a first-time venue in Brandenburg joins on the Dominsel in Brandenburg an der Havel.
  • New or returning venues include KaDeWe, Tempelhof Airport, the THF Tower and the Konzerthaus at Gendarmenmarkt after renovation.
  • Works by 23 artists from 14 countries anchor the program, with free guided walking tours departing nightly at 20:00 from Marlene-Dietrich-Platz at Potsdamer Platz.
  • A paid “Dome of Beats and Lights” concert series runs October 10–14 inside the Berliner Dom with tickets from €50.70 and at least one Alle Farben show already sold out.
