Berlin's Crematoriums Consume 7.5 Million kWh Annually

In 2023, approximately 15,500 cremations occurred across two main facilities in Ruhleben and Baumschulenweg.
The annual carbon dioxide emissions from these cremations total around 3,062 tons, with each cremation producing 0.2 tons of CO2.
Energy-saving measures include reducing the afterburner chamber temperatures from 850 to 780 degrees Celsius.
Future plans involve integrating solar power and redirecting excess heat to local infrastructure to further cut emissions.
