• Deutsche Bahn will fully close the Berlin‑Südkreuz–Bitterfeld section until December 13, detouring Berlin–Munich ICE services that will continue roughly hourly.
• Journeys between Leipzig or Halle and Berlin will take 45 to 60 minutes longer, and long‑distance trains will skip Berlin‑Südkreuz and Lutherstadt Wittenberg.
• Direct ICE services on Frankfurt–Erfurt–Berlin are suspended during the works, while the Frankfurt–Berlin route via Kassel operates unchanged.
• Regional routes in Brandenburg and Saxony‑Anhalt face curtailed timetables or bus replacements, including multiple VBB substitute lines for RE3 and RE4 from Teltow Stadt.
• From October 24 the closure widens to the Südkreuz–Hauptbahnhof section, affecting RE5, RE85 and RB14 due to signal‑box renewal tied to the December Dresdner Bahn launch, and a separate signal‑box fire near Magdeburg is causing additional disruptions.
