Berlinale Unveils First Panorama and Generation Selections for 2026

The first-wave slate spotlights global independent voices, featuring numerous world premieres across Panorama plus the youth-focused Generation section.

Overview

  • The opening announcement lists 12 Panorama films with 10 world premieres and five features plus seven shorts in Generation, seven of them world premieres.
  • Early Panorama titles include Danielle Arbid’s Only Rebels Win, Patric Chiha’s A Russian Winter and Takuya Uchiyama’s Numb, alongside new works from Faraz Shariat, Anna Roller and Ian de la Rosa.
  • Generation’s first set spans Kplus and 14plus with selections such as Papaya by Priscilla Kellen, Ghost School by Seemab Guul and Everyone's Sorry Nowadays by Frederike Migom.
  • The 76th Berlin International Film Festival runs February 12–22, 2026, with Wim Wenders presiding over the international jury and the Golden and Silver Bears set to be announced on February 21.
  • The festival will again offer the Generation Badge — 14plus for ages 14–25 with access to films and selected events, available online until January 10, as the full lineup is due early next year.
