Berlin Zoo's Panda Twins Open Eyes for the First Time
Six weeks after their birth, the panda twins at Berlin Zoo have reached a major developmental milestone by opening their eyes.
- The panda twins, both females, were born on August 22 and are now 48 days old.
- The eye-opening milestone typically occurs between 40 and 50 days after birth, aligning with the zoo's expectations.
- Zoo Director Andreas Knieriem confirmed the twins weigh approximately 2.2 to 2.3 kilograms each.
- Starting October 16, visitors can see one of the panda twins daily for an hour in the Panda Garden exhibit.
- This is only the second time panda cubs have been born in Germany, following the birth of their siblings Pit and Paule five years ago.
