Berlin to Build First Public Bike Parkhouse at Schöneweide This Year

The state-owned Infravelo plans a two-storey wooden facility featuring secure parking plus on-site bike services.

Overview

  • Infravelo presented the project model and said construction at the station forecourt is slated to start by the end of 2025.
  • The design foresees roughly 800 indoor places plus about 300 additional covered spots for a total of around 1,100 spaces.
  • Approximately 240 indoor places will use an Infravelo access system for added security, with 110 secured positions in the covered area plus ten oversized bays for cargo bikes or trailers.
  • Planned amenities include a bicycle workshop, rental service and a self-service repair station.
  • The budget stands at about €5.3 million with roughly €2.6 million expected from a federal program, while Tagesspiegel reports user access is unlikely before 2027.
