Berlin Station Weapons Checks Yield 561 Seizures in Bundespolizei Sweep

Police cite rising violence in the rail network as justification for the temporary carry ban.

  • From October 1 to November 17, officers conducted daily controls from 2 p.m. to 4 a.m., checking 10,723 people under a time-limited ban on dangerous items.
  • Seized items included 255 knives, 159 irritant sprays, 39 striking weapons, 15 firearms, 86 potential blunt or stabbing objects, and seven pyrotechnic items.
  • Authorities recorded 200 violations of the general order and 289 breaches of weapons law or existing weapons and knife restriction zones in public transport.
  • The operation identified 774 offenses, including 194 violent crimes, 128 drug offenses, and 137 violations of residency law.
