Overview
- The attack took place at around 22:00 on May 30 as the victims tried to board a U-Bahn train at Hermannplatz station in Neukölln.
- A male suspect reportedly spat on one victim, poured water over them, then fled with two accomplices into a nearby street.
- The assailant and his companions returned moments later to beat the two transgender individuals, one of whom was left with a heavily bleeding head injury.
- Responding officers and a doctor who happened to be on the scene administered first aid before both victims were transported to a hospital.
- Berlin’s State Security Service has opened a hate crime investigation and is seeking the suspects who fled after the assault.
