Overview
- A hack discovered on 14 August prompted Berlin to cut parts of its state network to contain the breach and halt connected services.
- The Senatskanzlei now says additional data were taken from the Senatsverwaltung für Mobilität, Verkehr, Klimaschutz und Umwelt before the 14 August network separation.
- Officials warn they cannot rule out that personal or other non-public data were included in the outflow and are still checking the content and scope.
- The two affected administrations were reconnected to the Landesnetz last Sunday but forensic investigations and a network-wide scan remain in progress and the IKT-Notfallstab is still active.
- Residents faced service disruptions such as blocked housing-benefit applications and lawmakers will be briefed once investigators produce reliable findings that show what was exposed.
