Overview

  • Outdoor pools across Berlin will rely solely on sunlight and ambient temperatures for heating, with water initially filled at 12°C instead of the usual 22°C.
  • Four pools with regenerative heating systems—Sommerbad Pankow, Sommerbad Mariendorf, Kombibad Gropiusstadt, and one pool at Sommerbad Kreuzberg—will remain heated.
  • Saunas in indoor pools will be closed from April 1 through the end of October to cut costs.
  • The summer pool season will end on September 7, coinciding with the conclusion of school holidays, shortening the typical season by several weeks.
  • The Berliner Bäderbetriebe are operating under a reduced 75 million euro subsidy for 2025, significantly less than what was agreed upon in the 2022 pools contract.
