Berlin Poll Finds Services Worsening Under CDUSPD, Coalition Loses Majority Support

A Civey survey of 2,500 Berliners points to perceived decline since 2023, suggesting the CDUSPD would miss a majority.

Overview

  • Majorities report deterioration in housing (62%), public transport (57%), car traffic (48%), safety (49%), and school-place availability (38%) since spring 2023.
  • The only area with a net perceived improvement is access to Bürgeramt appointments, contrasting with declines elsewhere.
  • A companion vote-intention snapshot puts the CDUSPD at a combined 36%, short of a majority for the Abgeordnetenhaus.
  • Party standings in that snapshot show CDU 23%, Linke 18%, AfD 16%, Greens 15%, and SPD 13%.
  • Civey reports a margin of error of about 3.7%, as opposition figures, including Linke lead candidate Elif Eralp, seize on record dissatisfaction with the coalition and Mayor Kai Wegner.
