Berlin Police Use Taser to Subdue Armed Shoplifting Suspect

A 33-year-old man threatened officers with a screwdriver and a bottle of alcohol after being caught stealing from a supermarket.

The incident occurred in a supermarket on Treskowallee in Berlin-Karlshorst on Tuesday afternoon.
Store employees locked the doors and called the police after observing the suspect steal multiple items and conceal them in his bag.
When police arrived, the suspect became aggressive, threatening officers with a screwdriver and a bottle of alcohol while ignoring commands to drop the items.
After verbal warnings and the threat of Taser use failed, an officer deployed the device, subduing the suspect and enabling his arrest.
The man was taken to a hospital for a health check and is now under investigation for armed theft and threatening behavior.
