Berlin Opens Immersive Nova Festival Exhibit Ahead of Oct. 7 Anniversary

The Tempelhof installation uses recovered artifacts to center survivors' accounts.

Overview

  • The exhibition was previewed Sunday at the former Tempelhof airport with Berlin Governing Mayor Kai Wegner as a patron and opens to the public on Tuesday, the second anniversary of the attack.
  • Curated by Reut Feingold with the Tribe of Nova Foundation, the first section recreates the festival campsite with authentic items such as burned cars, tents, toilets, and the original DJ canopy and booth.
  • A memorial section honors those killed and those abducted, displaying personal effects and testimonies, including a visit by the parents of German-Israeli hostage Alon Ohel.
  • Organizers report 411 people were killed, hundreds were injured, and more than 40 were taken into Gaza, while Israeli authorities state that 48 people remain held there.
  • The traveling show has previously appeared in cities including New York where U.S. media reported protests, and its Berlin stop lands during intense public debate over the Gaza war.
