Overview

• The Berlin police and Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district have partnered to launch the ‘Sicher feiern in Berlin’ initiative aimed at improving safety and well-being in nightlife areas.
• Starting May 17, police officers and district outreach workers, known as Nachtlichter, will distribute credit-card-sized info cards across Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg.
• The info cards feature two QR codes linking to resources: the police site offers crime prevention tips, while the district site provides guidance on drug use, mental and sexual health, anti-discrimination, and local support services.
• Nachtlichter will be present in nightlife hotspots, serving as direct points of contact for partygoers seeking assistance or information.
• The initiative is timed to coincide with the start of the summer party season, addressing recurring issues such as theft, drug-related harm, and sexual misconduct in Berlin’s nightlife.
